Inspired by Adventure Time, I experimented with the layering of gritty textures and graphic triangles patterns to represent the theme: home. The textures and triangles allude to the idea that the concept of home can sometimes be complicated and messy, but that people often feel at home when they have safety and stability.
Working with the theme "nocturnal," I decided to show a mischievious flying squirrel blowing up the moon. Experimenting with a combination of digital and analog techniques, this screenprint collages painting, illustration and found photography manipulated together to create a complete composition. Using CMYK inks, I decided to add and subtract layers in order to experiment with simple color variations. I also decided not to lock the screen in place and change the position of the squirrel to make each print even more unique. See if you can find the little troublemaker in each print!
